Double Movie

Yesterday Carla and I went to Baby Day at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema with my friend Kate and her son Charlie.  Every Tuesday babies are welcome to come to the first matinee showing of any movie.  We went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love.  Instead of the usual "NO TALKING" threat at the beginning of movies there was a welcoming "It's okay if babies cry."  Another big plus - it's dark so if you need to breastfeed no one even has to know!  Not sure how the babies would handle it, Kate and I showed up with all kinds of gear.  We had our baby carriers, she brought her stroller, we had our diapers bags filled with toys, pacifiers, and slings.  We took up almost an entire row which ended up being okay because it was just the four of us, another couple with a baby, and two middle-aged women in the theater.  But the babies did fine and we made it through the entire movie.  Carla nursed, took a nap, and sat quietly on my lap.  Will we go again?  Heck yeah!

Carla's first movie date with Charming Charlie!

Then that night our friends Karen and Ken gave us the generous birthday present of babysitting so Frank and I could have date night.  When trying to think about how we wanted to spend our precious evening we decided on the movies.  So it was my second trip to Alamo Drafthouse in the same day.  We saw Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  We had a lovely evening just the two of us.  A huge HUG to Karen and Ken!  Thank you!

Coming Soon!  A post about our week of birthday celebrations...
