It's been a whirlwind of Halloween celebrations and Carla Ann dressed as a pumpkin for 3 days straight! On Saturday we hosted our Pumpkin Pie Party. This annual party started about 10 years ago when instead of throwing away a perfectly good pumpkin I made a pumpkin pie from a real pumpkin. I spent hours scooping out the seeds, baking the pumpkin, and then pureeing it to make homemade pumpkin puree. Then I spent a couple more hours making, baking, and cooling the pie. I was sooooo proud of my achievement! When it came time to eat it I eagerly invited my roommate Kristen to share it with me. Then she dropped the bomb, "I don't like pumpkin pie." Sad little me had to eat that glorious pie all by my lonesome. I made a vow to myself that the next time I was having a party with other pumpkin lovers to share the fruits of my labor. And so the tradition continues each year. (To Kristen's credit, she always attends the party and loves eating my pumpkin cheesecake.)
The party this year was different in that it was taken over by kids and babies. It was great! There were about 8 little ones ranging from 3 months to almost 3 years. The menu included pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin latte cupcakes, mini pumpkin custards, and pumpkin cookies. The only way I was able to do all this was because my sweet mom came to town to babysit lil' Pumpkin Pie Carla Ann.

Our Pumpkin Love Child |
On Sunday Carla Ann was again a pumpkin at the Goblins in the Garden event at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The weather was great and it was fun seeing all the kids in costume!
On Monday night we watched the trick or treaters and passed out candy. And, did you notice how well this gal is sitting up these days??
