Head Bump

It has happened.  Carla Ann had her first major boo boo.  She was sitting on the floor and she fell and hit her forehead on the door frame.  Oh did she wail and scream!  I was so scared because it instantly swelled up and turned dark purple.  I called her pediatrician's office and they said it sounded fine since she appears to be acting normal.  Just to be safe I took her to see the doctor.  Not to worry, she is perfectly fine!  Phew!  Since the forehead doesn't have fatty tissue to act as a buffer it'll swell up really fast and because the forehead and scalp have the most blood vessels that explains why it turned purple so quickly.  He did say what can commonly happen as it starts to heal the body will flush the purple bruise above and around her eye so it'll look like a black eye.  This will make for interesting pictures for her baptism on Sunday!
