Baptism

Oh what a special day!  Carla Ann was baptized and welcomed into the church this morning.  We were so pleased that our families and friends were able to join us.

Now, I will admit that I haven't been the best church attending person after I moved out of my parents house.  After that it was my choice and sleeping in on a Sunday has always been much more appealing.  When I did stop attending I remember my dad just been very calm and cool about it and he simply said, "You'll be back."  Not in a condescending way but just very matter-of-fact.  I remember thinking, "Yea right!  You don't know what you're talking about!"  I guess he was right.  How did he know that?!?

Frank, Carla Ann, and I were asked to light the advent candle during the service.  This job involves one person reading a bible verse and another person lighting the candle.  Well, I kindly gave Frank the job of reading the verse since he has experience speaking on stage.  I was able to juggle Carla and light the candle safely.

The baptismal ceremony was led by our pastor Linda and the baptism blessing was done by our longtime family friend Terry.  He knew my mom Carla, was my dad's best friend, married my dad and mom Cathy, serves as Uncle Dylan's godfather, and married Frank and I.  There wasn't a doubt in our minds on who we wanted to baptize Carla.  Frank's brother Matt and wife Hili stood with us as Carla Ann's godparents.

After the service everyone came back to our house for BBQ and pie!  I put Carla Ann down for a nap and she didn't wake up until 2 hours later despite efforts of grandparents and aunts trying to be especially loud in hopes of waking her to play.
