We took a weekend trip to Wisconsin to visit Grandma and Grandpa. In preparation I asked all my other mommy friends for advice on toddler traveling. A week before the trip I started packing and getting everything in order. When it came time for travel day I was 100% prepared with a season of Sesame Street loaded on the iPad, new toys, new crayons and spiral notebook, lovey, her thermos of lactose free milk, and snacks galore.
We woke Carla Ann up at 5:30 am. She was in such a pleasant mood. I thought this will be a breeze! We board the plane and pull away from the gate right on time at 7:30am. But then.....possible engine problems so we have to pull back to the gate. The mechanics come to take a look and it doesn't look good because they make us all de-board the plane. One lonely little agent at the desk is in charge of helping ALL us passengers try to find other ways to get to our destinations. After standing in numerous lines and calling the 1-800 customer service line several times they are able to transfer to us to a flight on another airline leaving at 4:30pm. But it was only 10:00am at this point. We decide to go back home for lunch and nap time. We rest up as much as we can and go back to the airport for round two. Thankfully the flight left on time and we made it to Milwaukee at 9:30pm. We were exhausted by the end of the day!

Yes, that is the floor at the airport. We just had to ignore all the germs! |
Once we were in Wisconsin we had a whirlwind trip of fun - going to the Wisconsin State Fair, pond swimming in Minoka Park, pool swimming at Buckner Pool, and bucket swimming on Grandma and Grandpa's back porch. Frank's cousin Sue also came down from the U.P. (Upper Peninsula in Michigan) with teen daughters Rachael and Katie. We had a great time hanging out with the family. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa for a wonderful trip!!!
Awwww man! Boooo on your delayed flight! But hooray for Carla Ann for hanging tight...looks like she had a blast! And Josie, you look so pretty that picture!
