On Saturday I was looking for some family fun for us to do together. The Gospel and Holy Hip Hop Competition looked promising and different so we headed to the East side. What I envisioned in my head was not what was there. I had pictured a lovely outdoor venue where we would spread a blanket on lush green grass and listen to some good soul music. You know, like a re-creation of our wedding. It was a bust - a dimly lit room, LOUD music with a terrible crackling sound system, and the only "kids" there were 18-25 men. So we went to the park next door but didn't stay long. Frank was convinced there was gang sign graffiti on the side of the slide.
On Sunday we stayed in our 'hood park. It's safe enough (minus the occasional burglar).
Aw man, we randomly went to Central Market and they had a huge Irish dancing fest going on Saturday evening. Next year we'll all go! Sorry the gospel competition didn't work out.
