Picking Battles
A couple nights ago I tried out a little test. At bedtime I swapped out her old, stinky lovey with one of the new, clean ones. She curled up with it and went to sleep, no problem. That should have been my first clue. Clearly, it wasn't that easy. Since then, it's been major tears and blood curdling cries when trying to put her down for naps and bedtime. How did this become a battle? I mean, I thought I had a simple goal. All I wanted was to get one or two of the new lovies into the mix so I could put them on an easy rotation to wash. She brought out the big guns at this morning's naptime. She threw the new lovey out of the crib and stood there screaming for over a half hour. I decided this battle really wasn't worth it. I went in there and gave her the original, stinky lovey. Pure happiness! Then I thought, heck, I'll just put a new lovey in the crib too so she can get used to it. It wasn't long before it was banished to the floor again.

ReplyDeleteOh My goodness! Too cute! Bummer that the new lovey hasn't worked...Keep trying!!!
ReplyDeleteThe solution is to have Daddy Frank eat some baby green peas, prunes, and carrots and then have HIM chew on the ears of the new lovey. Then wash it and throw it into the mix and see what happens. It should have the look and flavor then!
ReplyDeleteShe has a very loyal personality.
