The crib was a gift from my mom. Frank's mom sewed all these fabulous crib sheets in fun, colorful prints as well as the sweet crib skirt. I framed different fabrics for wall art. Its hard to see them but one has cute little hearts, another has pears, there's a paisley one, etc. Frank was so excited to pick out the mobile. He chose the one with the African animals in honor of my short residency in Nigeria as a child.
This dresser also doubles as a changing table. This was mine as a girl and it was my mom Cathy's when she was a teenager. Frank painted it white and we added new hardware so it looks like new! The yellow paper stars were originally bought to use as decoration at our wedding. We ended up not using them so I'm glad I saved them.
On the shelf is a framed picture of a girl and a dog that was in my childhood room. I also framed the lyrics of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that my dad had written out since this was the song that was sung to me by my parents as a baby. The doll is made with a pillowcase embroidered by Mamoo, my great grandmother Dale. And there's a statue of St. Francis to look over Carla Ann.
This coat rack was decorated by my pal Kristen. My Aunt Vivian saved these sweet little clothes for me. The blue top and darker pink outfit were worn by my mom Carla as a baby. The two light pink gowns were worn by my grandma Kluth as a baby and me and my sister too. On the far right hangs a child-size apron given to Carla Ann by her Aunt Hili.
We spent lots of time in this comfy rocking chair that I found on Craig's List. After nursing Carla Ann loves to look up at her "Buddha" tree while getting burped as she contemplates the meaning of life. The little nightstand on the right belonged to my friend Christy as a girl; we painted it white and it looks new.
The curtains were handsewn by my pal Karen - the red dots are cute lil' ladybugs! On top of the bookcase is her name framed and it was drawn by my friend Karol. In the bookcase are two frames. One is a dog and the other is a cat. They were sewn by my Aunt Danna and hung in my childhood room.
A great tour!
