Double Dose of Aunt Banana

My sister Anna (aka Aunt Banana) came to Austin earlier in the week for a few days for a training.  We were so excited to have her stay at our house and Carla Ann was showered with all kinds of attention.

Now these two have several things in common.  They were both born at 4:30pm in the afternoon.  And they both have similar eyes.  I especially notice it when I'm nursing Carla.  When I look at her eyes from that angle it's like I'm looking at Anna's eyes.  Another similarity is that Carla likes to suck to thumb just like her aunt did when she was little.  What's better than sucking your own thumb?  The thumb of Aunt Banana!

Aunt Banana read Carla her favorite book Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton.

As if having Aunt Banana visit us wasn't enough, we had to make our way to Katy this weekend to help her celebrate turning the big 3-0!  That's right!  Carla Ann took her first vacation.  On Friday we played at mom's house and ate spaghetti and meatballs and lemon meringue cupcakes.

Uncle Dylan even made an appearance via Skype!

On Saturday my Grandma, Aunt Cherry, Uncle Randy, Aunt Lynne, and cousins Tyler, Lauren, and Danny came for a visit.  And my friend Leah from high school stopped by with her parents.

So how did Carla handle the trip??  She slept the whole 2.5 hour drive to Katy!  Which was great since I did it alone.  I wanted to leave early in the day when Carla is her happiest and Frank came later that night after work.  She had a great time being in a new place and was so fascinated by all the new things and people to look at.  She didn't have a problem taking naps or sleeping in a new place.  The drive back to Austin she slept the first half but the second half she cried just about the whole time.  I think she got a little hoarse from screaming so much and I got a little hoarse from singing to calm her.  She's happy to be back home and can't wait for her next adventure!

  2. Carla Ann is going to have so much fun with Aunt Banana as she grows up!

And I hear ya on the hoarse singing voice...Niva's first trip back from Katy was the SAME story! Maybe the babies don't like the scenery in Bastrop?
